Or maybe it's that they were all taken with the GX85 (which is normally my secondary camera). Maybe this batch of photos I'm working on now is just unique in my collection. I'm wondering why I haven't seen these problems before. darktable still wins in this case, though: its noise reduction reduced the maze and false coloring more effectively while also retaining fine detail better. DxO OpticsPro 11 is the newest iteration of the company’s image-enhancing suite, and it comes packed with a variety of tools to correct problems found in more than 30,800 combinations of lenses and cameras and to perform detailed image editing. In fact, many photographers largely use DxO for this function alone, since it’s one of the most effective types of noise reduction tools.
Dxo optics pro noise reduction software#
Not perfect, but more effective than AMaZE by itself. In order to reduce noise in DxO Optics Photolab, the software includes a function called Prime Noise reduction, which has gained a lot of popularity. It has many demosaicing algorithms, at least two of which are intended to prevent mazing. To read more about this revolutionary noise reduction technology, please click here. It’s Prime Noise Reduction made it a serious challenger. How about that? Not satisfied with darktable's limited and awkward geometric corrections, I tried RawTherapee next. I narrowed my challenger down to DXO Lab’s Optic Pro 10 Elite. I tried darktable first: AMaZE demosaicing reduces the maze a little chroma noise reduction eliminates the false coloring and a little bit of luminance noise reduction further reduces the maze pattern. This situation has encouraged me to learn to use RawTherapee and darktable for Windows. Interestingly, noise reduction has no effect on it at all, though moire reduction does reduce the false coloring that accompanies it. I found a RAW file that can't be processed in DxO without turning some of the fine detail into a maze pattern. Our example is a photo taken at night at 25600 ISO, a rather extreme value, but thanks to the efficiency of DxO’s noise reduction, can be considered as common to use when shooting. It was on a par with Lightroom for noise reduction, too: each has its own way of doing things and we. Strip away any noise that is there because of a high-ISO shot or even noise that’s been enhanced by pre-sharpening. The idea is that we start with an image that’s as sharp as it can be. I'm now discovering that one of the limitations of DxO PhotoLab and predecessors (which affects the appearance of noise and fine patterns in images) is the singular approach to demosaicing from RAW. When you open your image, DxO OpticsPro automatically applies the corrections contained in the Optics Module and the DxO Standard preset, including noise reduction. Optics Pro proved as precise and versatile as Lightroom for corrective colour treatments.
